From November 2-13, XCS families will have the opportunity to decide whether their student(s) will learn online or in person for the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year. 

For those who wish to MAKE A CHANGE
An online form will be available from November 2 - 13 that will allow families to opt in to online learning OR in-person instruction. This means that students can switch in either direction during this two-week window of time only. Note that the form will ONLY be needed for students who want to make a change. 

There is no paperwork to complete if your student is planning to continue learning in the same way. Note that online students who choose to stay with online learning may want to inform their teacher of their choice so that we can be sure every student's decision is accounted for. 

Why November? 
We know that this is a big decision for families, and that you may need time to consider your options. Remember that this decision is one that will hold for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year! 

While it may seem early, this time frame will allow us to ensure that we are properly staffed for both in-person and online students. It will also allow us to make sure that student schedules are completed, classroom assignments are made, and that students are ready to start the second half of the school year strong — regardless of their choice!

What's next? 
On Monday, November 2, a link will be posted at XeniaSchools.org and will be emailed directly to every XCS family from the Superintendent's office. The link will also be shared from building principals, and through XCS social media accounts. Individual teachers may also reach out to their students to ensure that everyone is aware of the process and has the information needed to make a decision before the deadline on November 13. 

What if we do not submit a form? 
First, if you do not want to make a change, you do not need to submit any paperwork. This means that current online students will continue online and in-person students will remain in the building if no form is submitted. 

For those who want to make a change in either direction, you must submit the form between November 2 - 13. By not submitting the form, you are agreeing to maintain your current choice for the remainder of the school year, and changes will not be permitted. Note that the only exception to this rule is a change in parental custody.
