At Xenia Community Schools, our high school students learn based on Ohio’s learning standards for each core subject, with teachers personalizing learning for students and creating a learning environment that will build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills. Our goal is to set students up for a lifetime of learning and success on their chosen career path.
Our students also benefit from learning opportunities that include: Foreign Language, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Agricultural Education, and Interactive Media, as well as JROTC and Project Lead the Way Engineering. Students also have many Fine Arts course options, ranging from Visual Arts to Music and Performance. Advance Placement (AP) classes, as well as College Credit Plus through accredited colleges and universities, are an option for those who qualify. As at every age level, these classes ensure that our students are well-rounded and have the opportunity to explore expanded subject matter, and explore career options.

MAP® ASSESSMENTS
All XCS K-10 students complete Measures of Academic Progress (MAP®) assessments for Math and ELA three times throughout the year (Fall, Winter, Spring). MAP® testing is used to show what your child knows and the next steps in learning.
What are MAP® assessments?
These are computerized adaptive tests in which the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answered the previous question(s). Essentially, if a student answers correctly, the questions become more challenging. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions become easier. Remember that this means students are not expected to answer all questions correctly! Instead, MAP® assessments measure growth and learning over time in a way that is challenging but not overwhelming. Learn more about MAP® assessment.
Families can also visit the NWEA MAP® Family Toolkit website or download the Family Guide to MAP Growth (PDF) to learn more.
