Staff Awards

Celebrate Excellence: Educator and Staff of the Year Awards

Each year, Xenia Community Schools recognizes the incredible talent within our buildings through awarding our two highest honors: Educator of the Year and Staff Person of the Year.

For 2026, the nomination process was redesigned to better reflect our district’s blueprint for success: the XCS Portrait of a Graduate!

Why the Change?
Our students learn how to be empathetic, resilient, and critical thinkers by watching the adults around them. Whether you are teaching a lesson in a classroom, preparing a meal in our cafeterias, maintaining our facilities, or managing an office, you shape our students' futures every day.

To honor this impact, we are updating our staff awards to celebrate these exact traits. By recognizing the adults who model these values, we are celebrating the very skills that make student success possible.

What’s New for 2026?

  • A Simplified Narrative: We have removed the separate biography requirement. Instead, we ask for a single, cohesive "Story of Excellence" (300+ words for Educators; 150+ words for Staff).
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation to support the nomination. Optional; may submit 1-4.
  • Portrait-Aligned Criteria: The nomination forms now explicitly use the language of our Portrait: Empathy, Learner’s Mindset, Perseverance, Communication, Responsibility, and Critical Thinking.

Submit a Nomination

We want to hear about the amazing people working in our schools. If you know a staff member who goes above and beyond, please nominate them for an award! To help our judges, give us specific stories and examples of how they help our students and families every day.

What to include in your story:

  • Going Above and Beyond: What makes this person special? How do they do more than what is expected?
  • Making a Difference: How has this person helped you, a student, or a family in a big way?
  • Helping the School: How has this person made their school a better, happier, or more successful place to be?

Pro Tip: Before you start, look at the criteria for each specific award in the dropdown menus on this page. This will help you write the best nomination possible! In addition, be sure to complete your narrative first, then be ready to copy it into the form.
