WMS Celebrates Team Tressel Fitness Challenge

The gymnasium at Warner Middle School was filled with excitement on Tuesday, as the school welcomed Lt. Governor Jim Tressel for a high-energy assembly dedicated to health and wellness.
The former Ohio State football coach visited to celebrate the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge, inspiring our students to take ownership of their physical and mental well-being. Tressel was joined by a very special guest: former OSU football player and Warner Middle School alum, Donnie Evege.
Together, Tressel and Evege delivered a powerful message about building healthy habits early in life. Lt. Governor Tressel emphasized to the students that fitness isn't just about sports or competition, but can provide a strong foundation for leadership and life success. Throughout the morning, he challenged the students to look out for one another and support their peers as they work to set and reach goals.
Throughout the presentation, students and teachers jumped into action as Tressel and Evege led volunteers through a series of exercises, from jumping jacks to balance tests. Between the activities, speakers shared personal stories, reminding students that success in school and life often starts with simple, daily choices, such as getting enough sleep and fueling your body with nutritious food.
Nearly 850 students in attendance at the school-wide assembly were joined by school staff and district leadership, as well as XCS school board members, Xenia City Council members, Greene County Commissioners, and other local officials.
