We are proud and excited to announce Zion Schaffer as McKinley’s Kid of Character! Zion is an outstanding student who demonstrates a strong work ethic and a genuine love of learning. She arrives at school each day on time, prepared, and ready to do her best. Zion approaches every assignment with focus and determination, always putting forth her very best effort. Throughout this school year, Zion has shown tremendous growth—both academically and personally—and we could not be prouder of all she has accomplished. Her progress is a true reflection of her dedication and positive attitude. Beyond her academic achievements, Zion is a wonderful friend to everyone around her. Shawnee Elementary: Brielle Clark
Brielle is a wonderful example of perseverance. She does not give up when faced with a challenging task in class. As we have been learning how to bundle and un-bundle in math, she has worked hard to understand each step and stays focused on finding the correct answers. When she makes a mistake, she does not get frustrated. Instead, she takes a deep breath, regroups, and tries again. Brielle’s determination and positive attitude truly show in her work, and she is very deserving of being recognized as Shawnee’s Student of Character.
Tecumseh Elementary: Fia Rodin
Tecumseh has chosen Fia as kid of character for the word cooperation because Fia always listens to others' ideas and makes them feel heard. She also includes everyone! Fia makes sure no one is left out during group work and always invites others to join her group. She listens thoughtfully to her classmates, values different opinions, and helps the group find solutions when challenges arise. Her positive attitude and willingness to work together make our classroom stronger! Thanks for setting a great example at Tecumseh Fia, we are so proud of you!!
Warner Middle School: Aliyah Horsley, Team Olympians
It is with great pride and sincere pleasure that the 7th Grade teachers of Team Olympians recognize Aliyah Horsley as our Kid of Character.
Aliyah is an outstanding student who demonstrates, through her everyday actions, exactly what it means to be a person of strong character here at Warner Middle School. She leads by example in our classrooms and throughout our school community. Aliyah is attentive, responsible, and consistently produces exemplary work. She approaches every task with determination and pride, making sure that anything she is given is completed to the very best of her ability.
Beyond her strong work ethic, Aliyah is a wonderful role model to her peers. She is kind, helpful, and always willing to lend a hand to others. Her positive attitude, great sense of humor, and ability to work well with others make her a joy to have in our classrooms each and every day.
Aliyah manages her time well, works hard, and carries herself with respect and integrity. She truly represents the values we hope to see in all of our students.
On behalf of the Team Olympians teachers, we are incredibly proud of you and honored to recognize you as our Kid of Character. Congratulations, Aliyah! We’re so proud of you and excited to recognize you today!
Warner Middle School: Brennan Wellman, Team Guardians
Brennan is a seventh-grade student at Warner Middle School who consistently stands out as an exceptional learner and role model. He is intrinsically motivated, respectful, honest, and responsible. He approaches each school day with enthusiasm and a strong sense of pride. Brennan demonstrates outstanding school spirit and represents Warner Middle School in a positive way through his actions, attitude, and willingness to get involved. He is well liked by both his peers and teachers, and his personable, outgoing nature helps create a welcoming and supportive classroom environment for everyone.
Academically, Brennan is an exemplary student who takes ownership of his learning. Brennan is an honors student who has maintained straight A’s all three quarters of seventh grade. He consistently meets deadlines and comes to school prepared. He asks thoughtful, insightful questions that show genuine curiosity and a desire to understand material at a deeper level. Brennan actively participates in class discussions and lessons, contributing meaningful ideas while encouraging others to do the same. He is also generous with his time and energy, frequently volunteering and offering help to classmates with a patient attitude. His reliability, leadership, and kindness truly make teaching easy and rewarding. He sets a high standard for what it means to be a responsible and engaged middle school student.
We congratulate Brennan on his outstanding leadership and thank him for always showing his Buccaneer Best. Keep up the great work, Brennan!
Warner Middle School: Sophia Rubio, Team Titans
To have character is to possess strong moral principles and positive qualities, such as kindness, integrity, and responsibility. These are the exact traits that define Sophia Rubio. Sophia is a wonderful student who serves as a consistent role model for her peers, demonstrating what it means to be both a scholar and a friend.
One of the things that sets Sophia apart is her unwavering reliability. She comes to class every single day prepared, focused, and ready to work. Whether we are starting a new project or diving into a difficult lesson, Sophia approaches her education with a level of diligence and enthusiasm that is truly impressive. Her love of learning is evident in the way she engages with her assignments and stays committed to doing her best work.
Beyond her academics, Sophia’s kindness and integrity shine through in her interactions with others. She is always the first to notice when a classmate needs a helping hand and is incredibly generous with her time. Whether she is assisting a teacher with a classroom task or supporting a peer who is struggling with a concept, Sophia does so with a genuine heart and a positive attitude.
Why Sophia stands out:
Preparedness: She is always organized and ready to participate the moment class begins.
Helpfulness: She proactively looks for ways to assist both her teachers and her fellow students.
Integrity: She consistently chooses to do the right thing, proving herself to be a student of high moral standing.
We have truly enjoyed having Sophia in our classrooms this year. Her combination of hard work, responsibility, and compassion makes her a joy to teach and a natural leader among her peers. For all of these reasons, Sophia is incredibly deserving of recognition as a Kid of Character.
Congratulations, Sophia!
Xenia High School: Arnage Davis
Since day one of Algebra 2, Arnage has consistently gone above and beyond the expectations in my class. He has completed every extra credit assignment and even sought to re-do work which he had previously completed, not for a grade but to ensure he fully understood the material. Arnage has come a long way from Freshman year. He has grown as a student and a person. He has shown empathy in class, helping other struggling students. He is always trying to learn more and better himself. He has shown excellent leadership by being a member of the Executive Board helping to improve the relationship between XCS and the local community. Arnage sets a great example for the type of students that we need representing our school. I am honored to recommend him for this month's Kid of Character award.
