Xenia High School JROTC Secures Prestigious Global Honor for Third Consecutive Year

The Xenia High School JROTC program has once again solidified its reputation as a global leader in leadership and excellence. This week, JROTC Headquarters officially notified the program that Xenia has been selected for the Distinguished Unit Award (DUA) for the 2025-2026 school year.
This announcement comes during a high-profile week for the program. Just days ago, two standout cadets represented the unit at the Board of Education meeting, delivering their comprehensive annual report to board members and district leadership. The presentation from Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Abi Neal and Cadet Major Justice Fraley highlighted a year of rigorous training, community service, and personal development — efforts that have now been validated on an international stage.
The Distinguished Unit Award is a highly selective honor. Out of 812 Air Force units worldwide, the DUA is reserved for those that represent the "best of the best." The award evaluates three core pillars:
- Cadet Achievement: Personal growth and academic leadership.
- Instructor Mentorship: The quality of guidance provided by program leaders.
- Community Impact: Service and integration within the local community.
While new JROTC programs are ineligible for this honor during their first two years of operation, Xenia High School has achieved the rare feat of earning this recognition every single year since becoming eligible. This consistent track record underscores the "culture of excellence" built over the last half-decade, ensuring that the standard of the Xenia JROTC remains world-class for years to come.
