McKinley Art Show Highlights

On Thursday, May 7, McKinley Elementary was transformed into a vibrant gallery as families gathered to celebrate the incredible creativity of our students. From the front lobby and art room to the gym and every hallway in between, student art spanned the entire building!
The heart of the evening was found in the gymnasium, where families moved beyond just viewing art and started creating it. The hands-on stations included:
- Sculpture & Crafts: Air-dry clay modeling and upcycled toilet paper roll animals.
- Wearable Art: Temporary art tattoos and a "Crazy Hat" station.
- A "Magic Eye" optical illusion display.
- A featured table from the Greene County Library offered dino-themed crafts and information about library programs and resources.
The Collaborative Art Tree, where every student decorated a handprint, was a big hit! The hands were assembled into a massive, blossoming tree symbolizing our growing school community.
Families also got the chance to celebrate the artists, as they filled out "Compliment an Artist" cards to leave praise for the students. Many took the time to create Teacher Appreciation cards to thank our dedicated staff, as well.
The turnout was spectacular, with nearly half of our entire student population attending this after-hours event with their families! Between the art, the prizes, and the high energy, it was a night to remember. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our young artists.
