XCS Welcomes Josh Newport Back to District as Tecumseh Principal

Xenia Community Schools is proud to announce the hiring of Josh Newport as the new Principal of Tecumseh Elementary School, marking a warm homecoming for a long-time Xenia resident and dedicated educational leader.
Newport brings 20 years of rich educational experience into this role, 15 of which were previously spent serving the students, families, and staff of Xenia Community Schools. Over his two-decade career, he has spent 14 years in administrative leadership, including prior Xenia roles as a Preschool Principal and Assistant Principal/Athletic Director at Warner Middle School, as well as a Teacher Improvement Specialist and classroom teacher.
Most recently, he served four years as the Jr. High/High School Principal at Greenon Local Schools, gaining valuable secondary administration experience before deciding to return to his home district.
"We are thrilled to welcome Josh back to Xenia Community Schools," said Dr. Gabriel E. Lofton, Superintendent. "He brings a wealth of leadership experience and a deep-rooted commitment to our community. Having him return to our district with the valuable insights and skills he gained during his time away makes our administrative team even stronger, and we know Tecumseh Elementary will thrive under his leadership."
For Newport, who holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Antioch University Midwest and a Bachelor of Arts in Health & Physical Education from Ohio Northern University, the appointment is both a professional milestone and a personal passion. He resides in Xenia, and his children attend Xenia Community Schools.
"I'm excited to return to Xenia and bring the experience I've gained back to the district and community I am proud to call home," said Newport. "I can't wait to join the staff at Tecumseh Elementary, meet our students, and get the school year started.
