This week, the students in Mrs. Combs and Mrs. DelGrande’s classes at Shawnee Elementary took on a fun, hands-on STEM challenge!

Our young engineers designed and built their own Sail Cars using axles, wheels, paper, and legos. Their goal? To see how far their cars could travel using only the wind from a fan! 
Students experimented with different sail shapes, car designs and wheel types, tested their designs, and made adjustments after each trial. Some cars took off, while others needed a little troubleshooting! 

One of the best parts was watching our students work together, share ideas, and help each other solve problems when a car wouldn’t move or kept tipping over. They showed creativity, perseverance, teamwork, and some serious problem-solving skills!
