Tecumseh Students Head Off to See Landmarks — Without Leaving Class!

Miss Finkbeiner’s third-grade class took learning to a whole new level as they brought some of America’s most famous landmarks to life!
As part of their social studies unit, students explored popular landmarks across the United States. With the help of Mr. Carey, they took virtual field trips to incredible destinations, including the Statue of Liberty, the Everglades, the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Willis Tower, and the Golden Gate Bridge. This immersive experience using VR headsets allowed students to explore these locations as if they were actually there!
The learning didn’t stop with virtual field trips. Students identified primary and secondary sources, created their own maps, and read realistic fiction stories about characters visiting these locations.
To wrap up this exciting learning experience, students put their writing skills to the test! They wrote postcards to someone back home, sharing details about their favorite location they “visited” and what made it special.
What an exciting way to combine social studies, reading, writing, and technology while exploring the United States!
