News & Updates from the Superintendent's Office

May 22, 2025

Hello!

As we head into summer, I want to take this last opportunity of the 2024-2025 school year to let you know how proud we are of all of our students! From graduating Seniors to our youngest learners, it has been a good year for Xenia Community Schools — and that is due, in part, to each and every student, parent, and staff member who showed up to do their best all year long!

For this last weekly newsletter, I want to share a look into happenings across the district. However, there are so many events, ceremonies, and programs taking place that I encourage you to follow us on social media to see more.

And, of course, visit our website for the latest news and updates throughout the summer months. There are good things coming for 2025-2026, and I can't wait to share more news with our families as we prepare over the summer. So, stay tuned!

Wishing you a safe, happy, and healthy summer — and, as always... Go Bucs!

Sincerely,
Gabe

Dr. Gabriel Lofton, Superintendent

5th Grade Celebrations

This week, we celebrated our 5th grade students who are spending their last days with us in elementary — and heading to Warner Middle School in August. From clapouts and award ceremonies to class picnics, it has been a fun week to be a 5th grader at Xenia Community Schools!

8th Grade: Washington, D.C.

Earlier this month, our 8th grade students made the time-honored trek to our nation's capital to experience American history in person! The trip included a whirlwind tour that takes students to iconic landmarks, museums, and memorials in our nation's capital as they get the opportunity to see some of the places and events they studied in their American History class throughout the year.

Over the course of their three days in DC, students were able to tour the U.S. Capitol Building and Mt. Vernon, and visit Arlington Cemetery, the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, the Iwo Jima Memorial, the Smithsonian Museums and National Archives. They were also able to view the 9/11, WWII, Lincoln, Vietnam and Korean Memorials.

Arrowood Kindergarten Gets Hands-On at Learning Tree Farm

Last week, Kindergarten students from Arrowood visited The Learning Tree Farm for a field trip! Students got hands-on experiences in the garden and with a variety of farm animals, and they also got to explore the century house and go for a hike in the woods before eating a picnic lunch outside.

All 6-12 student Chromebooks will be collected by the end of the day, but please remember that students should keep their cases in good condition and available for fall!
